WHAT IS DRY EYE?
Twenty percent of all Adult Americans suffer from Dry Eye. Yes, that is one out of five people that walk around with dry eye and never know they suffer from this eye condition. Dry Eye affects people who wear contact lenses, take antihistamine for allergies, take certain medications or who have systemic diseases such as arthritis, heart disease or lupus. Of those that suffer from Dry Eye disease, 83% say it affects their daily activities "a great deal"! Activities such as reading, driving, drawing, using computers and smart phones, knitting, playing cards and playing golf and tennis. We are here to help make those activities once again fun and enjoyable!
Our Dry Eye Center was developed to help these long time sufferers. Patients who say, "they have never been able to wear contacts", or "they experience soreness in their eyes throughout the day" will benefit from treatment of dry eyes. Most people who have dry eye symptoms have suffered with their symptoms for over 6 1/2 years. The problem with these symptoms is they only get worse over time. So early diagnosis and treatment is important.
